On-Leash Walks
We provide on-leash neighborhood walks for one pup at a time, or for two dogs from the same family. There are many circumstances in which private walks might be the appropriate, some of which are:
Puppies (we can reinforce rewards-based protocols to help puppies become housebroken and crate trained).
Senior or slow dogs who can't keep up with a group but enjoy a leisurely sniffing meditation.
Dogs who have space sensitivity (don't want to travel with other dogs close by in the car).
Dogs who are very people oriented and would most appreciate one-on-one attention from their walker.
Dogs recovering from surgery or dealing with health challenges.
Fearful dogs who will benefit from well-timed positive reinforcement and who may be ready for a group walk in the future.
Reactive dogs who need a skilled walker with strong situational awareness to keep them under threshold (avoid their triggers, such as other dogs, people, or scary street noises). We often work with rewards-based trainers to follow their recommended protocols to keep our mutual clients safe and become more stable.
We can use some of the time with our private walk clients for enrichment (playing fetch, with toys or puzzles,) and snuggles, too!
Details
Clients must sign up for a package of at least two walks per week on a regular schedule. No credits are given for cancellations. Clients sign up for auto-pay and their credit cards are debited monthly after services have been completed. Walks on weekday evenings after 5PM and walks on weekends are an additional $20, and walks on holidays are an additional $35 (see our FAQ for which days).
Note: For an additional $15 per walk, we can take your dog to the trails for private hikes with the 60-minute option only. The extra $15 is to cover the cost of gas and wear and tear on our walker's vehicles and the additional time it takes to get to the trail. Drop-in visits for dogs can include walks, feeding, playing with toys in the yard, and reinforcing rewards-based training. We can help your puppy become crate trained or housebroken by giving pup regular breaks from the crate. Senior dogs may need a potty break during the work day as well.
"I recommend Molly and her fabulous team at Doggy Lama unreservedly! They have walked and boarded two dogs for us since 2008 and are completely trustworthy, compassionate and beloved by the dogs. When one of our dogs got cancer at an early age, Molly herself walked him almost every day that we could not, to ensure that the time he had left was as enjoyable as possible. I am forever grateful."
